What is the function of an IT Security Specialist? 

An IT Security Specialist protects systems and data from cyber attacks. They identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, develop and implement security solutions (e.g., firewalls, encryption), monitor networks, handle security incidents (incident response) and train staff to raise general security awareness. Their main responsibility is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of IT infrastructures and sensitive information.   

Tasks and requirements: 

An IT Security Specialist analyses systems, identifies vulnerabilities and develops security measures. This includes implementing policies, performing penetration tests and preparing results for architecture and process decisions. 

An IT Security Specialist requires in-depth knowledge of ISO 27001, BSI IT-Grundschutz, firewalls, SIEM and cloud security. Analytical skills, experience in security analyses and practical capabilities in penetration tests are also expected.
