What is the function of a Data Analyst / BI Expert?
A Data Analyst and a BI Expert (business intelligence) expert have the common primary function of gaining valuable insights from raw data to support well-founded business decisions. Although their roles overlap, the Data Analyst's focus is frequently on in-depth statistical analysis, while the BI Expert is more focused on providing data to the entire organisation.
Tasks and requirements:
A Data Analyst / BI Expert structures vast amounts of data, analyses trends and visualises results in dashboards and reports. This enables a reliable basis for decision-making on operational and strategic issues.
A Data Analyst / BI Expert should have solid knowledge of SQL, BI and visualisation tools, programming languages, data management and ETL (extract, transform, load), as well as statistics and mathematics. Added to this are soft factors such as strong communication skills, problem-solving ability and critical thinking.
